Isospin-Dependence of π/π Ratio and Density-Dependence of Nuclear Symmetry Energy

چکیده

The π/π ratio is examined as a function of isospin asymmetry and beam energy for central collisions induced by neutron-rich nuclei within an isospindependent hadronic transport model. The π/π ratio is found to increase with the isospin asymmetry, but decrease with the beam energy of the reaction. For neutron-rich systems, such as, Sn + Sn and Sn + Sn, the sensitivity of π/π ratio to nuclear symmetry energy is almost beam energy independent. PACS numbers: 25.70.-z, 25.75.Ld., 24.10.Lx

High Density Behaviour of Nuclear Symmetry Energy and High Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions

High energy heavy-ion collisions are proposed as a novel means to obtain information about the high density (HD) behaviour of nuclear symmetry energy. Within an isospin-dependent hadronic transport model using phenomenological equations of state (EOS) for dense neutron-rich matter, it is shown that the isospin asymmetry of the HD nuclear matter formed in high energy heavy-ion collisions is dete...

The Density Dependence of the Symmetry Energy in Heavy Ion Collisions

The density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy is important from very low densities in supernova explosions, to the structure of neutron rich nuclei around saturation density, and to several times saturation density in neutron stars. Heavy ion collisions are the only means to study this density dependence in the laboratory. We discuss the knowledge and uncertainty of the symmetry energy ...

Probing the high-density behavior of nuclear symmetry energy with high-energy radioactive beams

Central collisions induced by high energy radioactive beams can be used as a novel means to obtain crucial information about the high density (HD) behaviour of nuclear symmetry energy. This information is critical for understanding several key issues in astrophysics. Within an isospin-dependent hadronic transport model using phenomenological equations of state (EOS) for dense neutron-rich matte...

Dependence of relative abundances of constituents in dense stellar matter on nuclear symmetry energy

For a dense stellar matter, which is electrically neutral and in beta equilibrium, the electron chemical potential, μe, will depend nontrivially on baryonic matter density. It is generally expected that as density increases, the electron chemical potential will increase and new degrees of freedom will emerge as μe becomes comparable to their energy scales. Assuming the electrical neutrality and...

A systematic study of the π/π ratio in heavy-ion collisions with the same neutron/proton ratio but different masses

A systematic study of the π/π ratio in heavy-ion collisions with the same neutron/proton ratio but different masses can help single out effects of the nuclear mean field on pion production. Based on simulations using the IBUU04 transport model, it is found that the π/π ratio in head-on collisions of Ca+Ca, Sn +Sn and Au+Au at beam energies from 0.25 to 0.6 A GeV increases with increasing the sy...
